CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design) and IDC (Industrial Design Centre) at IIT Bombay are both related to design education in India, but they are not the same thing.
CEED is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is a qualifying exam for admission to Master of Design (M.Des.) programs at IITs and other participating institutes. CEED assesses the candidate’s aptitude for design through various tests, including visual and spatial ability, creativity, communication skills, and analytical and logical reasoning.
IDC is a design school at IIT Bombay that offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in design. The school is known for its emphasis on design research and innovation and has produced many successful designers in India and around the world. Admission to IDC’s M.Des. program is through CEED, followed by a design aptitude test and an interview.
